Konnichiwa Japan Club is a New Delhi-based community that has shared Japanese culture with India since 2017.
Our flagship event, Konnichiwa Japan Festival, is India’s largest Japanese culture festival and welcomes more than 60,000 + visitors every year. In 2026, we celebrate our 10th edition.
“Konnichiwa” (こんにちは) means “hello” in Japanese, and that is exactly what we do: say hello to Japan, its food, art, pop culture and people, right here in India, for everyone.
Our mission
To make Japanese culture open, joyful and accessible to every Indian, not only those who can travel to Japan, and to build lasting friendships between the people of India and Japan.
Konnichiwa means hello. For ten years, this festival has been our way of saying hello to Japan together, and of showing that Japanese culture belongs to everyone who is curious about it.

Our story: ten editions of Konnichiwa Japan
From a single weekend to India’s largest Japanese culture festival, here is how we grew.
The first hello
The first Konnichiwa Japan Festival is held at DLF Place, Saket, on 18–19 November as an official event of the Japan–India Year of Friendly Exchanges, with sumo demonstrations, a tea ceremony and about 10,000 visitors.
Growing the family
The festival returns with more performers, more stalls and a growing community of Japan fans.
Culture on stage
J-Pop, Cosplay and hands-on workshops bring traditional and pop-culture Japan together under one roof.
Konnichiwa Japan goes online
The festival moves online, sharing performances with fans at home and keeping the community connected.
A virtual celebration
Konnichiwa Japan Virtual 2021 brings Japanese culture to audiences across India through an online festival.
70 years of India–Japan friendship
Konnichiwa Japan, held on 16–17 December at DLF Avenue, Saket, is opened by the Ambassador of Japan and features sumo, karate, taiko, Okinawan dance, a kimono show and cosplay.
Cosplay takes the stage
A packed cosplay competition and parade, alongside food, music and culture, makes the 2023 festival a fan favourite.
A festival for everyone
Volunteers, artists and exhibitors from across India come together for another weekend of Japan in Delhi.
Our biggest edition yet
The 9th edition welcomes more than 60,000 visitors to Nexus Select Citywalk, Saket, a new record for the festival.
The 10th edition
Konnichiwa Japan Festival returns to Nexus Select Citywalk, Saket, on 12–13 December 2026, 11:00 am – 9:00 pm, and begins planning for more Indian cities.
What we do
The Festival
Every December, we turn a Delhi landmark into a little Japan: anime, cosplay, food, music, martial arts and traditional arts across two days, open to all with free registration.
Cultural Exchange
We work with Japanese and Indian institutions, artists and volunteers to build real friendships between our two countries, one origami fold and one taiko beat at a time.
Japan Travel Expertise
Our team brings years of experience taking Indian travellers and corporate groups to Japan. We know what Indians love about Japan, and we bring it home.
Community Programmes
Member meet-ups, Japanese language and culture sessions, screenings and college outreach keep the Konnichiwa spirit alive all year round.
The festival at a glance
Two days. Seven experiences. More than 60,000+ visitors. Konnichiwa Japan Festival brings together families, students, anime fans, cosplayers, Japanese-language learners and Delhi’s Japanese community. Visitors travel from across Delhi NCR and, increasingly, from other cities.
Our board
Konnichiwa Japan Club is run by volunteers who love Japan and India in equal measure.
